NRAM will be celebrated every November in accordance with Proclamation No. 524 series of 2004 where November was declared as National Rice Awareness month.

DA 6 Regional Executive Director Remelyn R. Recoter joined the farmers, consumers, and the media in making the general public understand the importance of rice as the main staple food of the Filipinos.

National Rice Awareness Month (NRAM) is part of the DA’s campaign for responsible rice consumption that supports in their goal to attain rice security.

This year’s theme is “Quality Rice. Quality Life” which focused on how farmers and consumers can work together to produce quality rice for a better life.

It also aims to encourage farmers to produce quality rice for consumers, contribute in achieving rice security, promote the values of responsible rice consumption, and to inspire public influencers in advocating this cause.

With NRAM 2018 encouraging consumers to not waste rice, producers are also challenged to use efficient farming technologies and to become agri-entrepreneurs.
