Manila’s cactus fair

In line with the cactus society’s tradition, the fourth run of the Cactus Fiesta Fair will be launched on April 5 – 7, 2019 at UN Square in Manila.

The cactus fair started in May 2017 under the Cactus and Succulent Society of the Philippines, Inc. (CSSPI). As the fair continues to evolve, so does the organization behind it. This year’s cactus fair is organized by the National Cactus and Succulent Organization of the Philippines, Inc. (NCSOPI), a spin-off of the now defunct CSSPI.

The 3-day event will showcase cactus and succulent (CNS) exhibits from the gardens of Arid and Aroids, Aireen Bernal, Savanah Lamsen, and an exhibit table from the NCSOPI officers headed by its president, Amy Lastimosa.

The cactus fair will not be complete without the customary free lectures and workshops from well-experienced growers and gardeners. Another highlight of the event is the plant competition which continue to attract collectors, with newbies at the front and center to try their lucks at winning.

But the icing on the cake for CNS collectors and enthusiasts is the commercial area where the wide array of cactus and succulents infuse the retail environment with breathtaking selection of locally grown and imported plants.

The UN Square venue is a perfect choice not only for the abundance of restaurants in the building, but also for the convenience of commute, with the LRT UN station a short walk away. And parking is never a problem at UN Square.

Cactus Fiesta Fair 4 will surely delight the senses, and entice the novice to plunge deeper into the hobby. After all, the timing is perfect. The summer heat is on.  There is no better time to start than now. Go ahead and fall in love with a cactus.
