Due to the crisis brought by the outbreak of COVID-19, many people are forced to stay indoors.

Fortunately, the strict home quarantine protocol has become an outlet for some to find new hobbies. One example is actress Andi Eigenmann, who took advantage of the lockdown period to plant and grow seedlings for consumption.

The actress recently shared on her Instagram account a photo of her holding a watermelon while surrounded by many other watermelons.

The post reads: Seconds away from our place is a mountain filled with the sweetest watermelons. Glad to have been able to go out this morning. Who would’ve thought that an errand like this one would be such an exciting opportunity to get out?” the actress wrote.  “Now I think I’m changing my mind about wanting to plant some in our own backyard,” she added.

Before the watermelon post, Andi, together with her partner Philmar, had already been growing their own food. In a series of Instagram stories, she shared that her partner built a garden bed a couple of weeks ago which was “filled with soil from pigsty, chunks, and chunks of kalabaw [manure], and all of this food waste.”

The couple have planted vegetables like papaya (Carica papaya), watermelon (Citrullus lanatus), tomatoes (Lycopersicon esculentum), squash (Cucurbita), avocadoes (Persea americana), garlic (Allium sativum), snow cabbage (Brassica rapa pekinensis), and bitter gourd (Momordica Charantia).
