David Hula, a progressive farmer based in Charles City, Virginia, was recently introduced as the new world record holder of corn production with a phenomenal yield of 28.56 metric tons per hectare, the highest mark ever recorded by the National Corn Growers Association (NCGA) in its annual yield contest. Hula achieved this with a Pioneer hybrid, P2088YHR.
Growers planting Pioneer brand corn hybrids also came in second and third in the overall highest yield portion of the contest. It was also noted that only growers planting Pioneer hybrids achieved the 25 metric tons level in the 2013 NCGA corn yield contest.
“DuPont Pioneer extends its sincere congratulations to David Hula for this outstanding achievement,” said Paul E. Schickler, president of DuPont Pioneer International. “We believe this shows not only the impressive yield potential that DuPont Pioneer genetics bring to our customers, but it also demonstrates what growers can achieve by planting the right product on the right hectare.”
Meanwhile, in the Philippines, corn farmers like Mamerto Pega of Alcala, Pangasinan have similarly enjoyed success in corn production. Pega recorded a high of 11.8 metric tons per hectare using Pioneer hybrid P4097YR. Another corn grower, Catalina Mirafuentes of Banga, South Cotabato, reached a high yield of 10.8 metric tons per hectare using Pioneer hybrid P3774YR with the YieldGard Corn Borer Protection trait and the Roundup Ready gene.
“The success stories of these corn farmers using Pioneer brand hybrids is a testament of our commitment in helping our Filipino customers achieve the highest possible profit from our products,” said DuPont Pioneer Philippines’ Commercial Operation Lead Allan Nieves. “Moreover, our company will continue to provide quality seeds and customized solutions to farmers – from the challenging farm environments of Mindanao to the high yield conditions of Luzon and Visayas. There’s a right Pioneer product for each hectare.”
