Everyone has been affected since the pandemic started spreading around the world. The quarantine protocols that are put in place to halt the spread of COVID-19 in the country have hindered many local farmers from transporting their products to markets and houses. The strict enforcement of quarantine measures led to the rise of online food delivery in the metro — leaving many farmers and food producers behind.

The transport problem isn’t the only struggle being faced by our Filipino farmers today. Aside from losing income because of market inaccessibility, low market demand also forces farmers to discard their harvests due to crop spoilage.

To address this, AgriEX, short for Digital Agriculture Exchange Platform, was formed to bring the market closer to partner farmers who have been severely affected by the pandemic.

AgriEX is a digital platform developed by APPGeese Inc. that directly links local farmers to the consumers in Luzon. It helps in transporting fresh harvests from domestic farms to households. Through this online store, buyers can order fruits and vegetables, pay online, and have them delivered at home. The prices are set fairly by the farmers themselves. Partner farmers have full access to the platform where they can monitor their orders and income being generated through the site. Users can also witness how the farmers grow, tend to, and harvest their crops through the daily content posted on AgriEX. AgriEX targets small businesses that also intend to get fresh produce from local food producers.

AgriEX is more than just a store as it boasts four main features where both users and farmers can learn and communicate with each other. One of the features is the shop where customers can purchase food. Second is a community feature where they can blog, share, and converse with co-farmers. Another feature is for parties who’d like to work with the farmers on agricultural projects. The last feature would be the farm management module.

APPGeese Inc. fosters sustainability and is proud to accomplish ten out of 17 UN sustainable development goals (SDGs), including No Poverty, Zero Hunger, Good Health and Well-Being, Responsible Consumption and Production, and Life on Land.
