By The blade that was meant to slaughter a stunned pig became the main instrument that killed a 61-year-old butcher in Hong Kong after the pig awakened and knocked him over, a peculiar incident that also stunned authorities.
According to police reports, the butcher in Sheung Shui Slaughterhouse in northern Hong Kong had already stunned the pig in preparation for slaughter. Though the exact cause of death is yet to be determined, the authorities believe that the stunned pig could have accidentally knocked over the butcher after it awakened.
The labor department of Hong Kong says that they started an investigation to determine the exact cause of the incident and sent condolences to the bereaved family. Hong Kong’s Food and Environmental Hygiene Department also stated that they will be recommending improvements in slaughterhouse workers’ safety.
